Human Interest, Part 1

It seems God and humanity are interested in what interests humanity.

Certainly you are. Sit down with a pad of paper and make a short list of the ten things that interest you most.

If you get stuck...just look at what you do. As an old friend said "people really do what they really wanna do". Look at what you do and you will see what you are interested in. Works every time and it cuts through the BS of what we "should" be interested in. Look at what you do and it will tell most of the story.

Some people's interests are very simple: beer, sex, wrestling on TV, porn, their vehicle, house, dog, a close friend, a gun collection and reality TV.

Others are equally simple: Box seat at the Met, a split of bordeaux, a BMW 300DL, an Armani suit with ten others in the lighted closet, ten pairs of shoes, an Andy Warhol original, marble counter tops, Kiehl's products in the bathroom, three attractive women waiting online at 11 p.m. and a plasma screen TV playing The Matrix over and over.

Other boil their ten down to like three, with one leading. We call this a "fetish" rightly or wrongly.

But it is all about interest. Interesting isn't it?

or as sarte once said, "all we can ever afford to do, is do as we feel".

I actually used to say, "all we can ever do is do as we feel" before I read that quote by sarte. So its both of our goddamn intellectual property.

nothing profound but i find it to be a good descriptive statement.

Fortunately and unfortunately i'm one of those people who become so focused on my interests that I can hardly do anything else, even though I often should focus on the things that bore me for the sake of grades. Some people can multi-task. Fuck them.

Here's a fetish though, I love it when a girls sits on my face and tells me she loves me.

I wish I participated more in my intrests. I'm trying though.

Interesting post..a real thinker. Now I'm going to be more aware of what I do today only because you planted a seed.

Sorry, my fetishes aren't quite as exciting as Greg's.

Greg-as a girl, it's good to know you like having a woman sit on your face, Because that means-some chickie is out there gettin hers.

I'll go part-way up the road with you on that one.

However, some bright spark once described us as "creatures of habit".

Watching people closely, I think often we do the things we do not because we necessarily want to do them, not because they interest us particularly or make us happy, but because we're in the habit of doing them.

Time makes an excellent point. We are habitual.
